Update 2:

04 April 2018

To all who have kindly donated and to everyone who have extended their hearts to mommy Ellan, we will be forever grateful.

With regards to Ellan’s condition, it has been an up and down battle. Just when you think something is improving, another issue pops up.

As of today, her blood levels appear normal after several blood transfusions and procedures. However, due to her weakened immune system, she has developed an acquired pneumonia. Also, Ellan has been having episodes of rectal bleeding (or gastrointestinal bleeding) and doctors suspect that she has developed “cirrhosis” of the liver. It was proposed that Ellan undergoes “colonoscopy” and “endoscopy” to verify the cause the bleeding. This is on top of the proposed further debridement of Ellan’s pressure ulcer.

A couple of Ellan’s friends and family members who are medical professionals advised Ellan’s carers to slow down on the intrusive procedures being done and to let her body rest and to allow some time for the medications to take effect. Doctors are agreeable to this plan moving forward. This means further operation (sedation and debridement) and the proposed colonoscopy and endoscopy will be put on hold until Ellan’s condition improves.

Again, we thank you all for your support. Please keep Ellan close to your hearts and include her in your prayers.

Update 1:

28 March 2018

Just wanted to update everyone on mom Ellan’s condition. Ellan is off the oxygen mask which is great news. Her fever, however, continues to persist and the antibiotics is deemed to be just half effective. Doctors advise the operation requiring sedation is the next best alternative to treat Ellan’s pressure ulcer. But also, Ellan’s platelet count, hemoglobin and sugar levels are too low. The surgery needs to be delayed until her blood count reaches safe levels prior to operation.

We will provide further updates in this page as things progress. Please continue to pray for Ellan.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who offered prayers and well wishes and were compelled to help out with Ellan’s treatment costs. May God bless you all!
