Riggs is fighting for his life...

Update posted by Rugaz Rescue Inc

Chandler Riggs Medical Pup-Date:

Riggs bloodwork has come back and it's not good... He's extremely anemic, due to the severe flea and hookworm infections that we are trying to get under control currently. The blood he does have, the white cell count is off the charts due to the pure mass amount of infection raging through his body.

Riggs has an uncountable amount of lacerations all along his face and neck suspected to be caused by trying to free himself from the fence he was attached too. This has caused his entire face to swell so much that he cannot open his mouth wide enough to eat. So we are currently blending and syringe feeding him wet high calorie food.

Both of Riggs eyes are extremely infected and both have ulcerations on the corneas. We believe him to be blind in his right eye, but simply due to the extreme swelling we are unable to comfortably open his eyes to see the full extent of damage. Once the swelling and infection has gone down a bit in his face we will be able to fully exam the entire extent of damage and make a plan on how to help his eyes.

Riggs is not able to move more then a few feet at a time, and not able to get up/down on his own without assistance. We believe some of this to be simply due to the lack of energy from the anemia, but he does also have hip dysplasia. We are unable to manipulate his hips comfortably to be able to see the full extent comfortably, so as with his eyes once we get some of the swelling down and some energy back on board with him as his blood levels increase we will be able to make a muscle work plan, but for now he is on pain management and the medical team are using gurney and slings to get him in and out comfortably as he is also very housebroken.

We are currently hitting Chandler Riggs hard with fluid therapy, parasite control, antibiotics, pain management with lots and lots of positive healing vibes as this is a fight to keep Riggs body as strong as his will is to live...

Riggs was left tied to a fence in the middle of no where to die a horrible death by a human, yet he welcomes humans with open arms and heart... He loves to hold his foster mom's hand and give the sweetest of kisses. After everything Riggs has been through, he still wants to be right by humans side... If humans could learn an ounce of the forgiveness and compassion dogs have, this world would be a much different place.

Riggs needs our help to keep him fighting. He deserves nothing less then our full support and help to give him the chance at having an amazing healthy golden years. After everything he has been through, we need your help to give him this chance.
