Thank you for loving Momma Earleen this Mother's day

Update posted by Vanessa Raditz

Happy mothers day to ALL the mothers out there, and especially all the single mothers raising their families with lots of willpower and the support of their community.

Thanks to YOU, we've already raised over $4000 to give back to one of these loving and dedicated mamas- our dearest Earleen. From the bottom of our hearts- THANK YOU!!!

We are incredibly grateful for this support in this stressful time: The construction is speeding ahead. We are about half way done and hope to move Earleen in by end of August. Siding is going up now and all doors and windows are in. Plumbing, electrical, and roofing subcontractors will be starting soon. Two sides are almost completely painted! As construction costs and credit card debt accumulate, it's a relief to know that we have $4000 more that we can put towards a safe and healthy future for Earleen. It's a relief to know and to see the community support that will help us through the difficult days still to come.

We still have a long way to go.

This mother's day, could you please take a minute to share the video and our story?

From Kyyio:

I am so touched by all our friends who have donated to my mom's fundraising campaign! I'm also connecting with some wonderful old friends from my mom's "tribe" and Renaissance Pleasure Faire days! Thank you!

For mother's day, I've been reflecting on all the things I love about my mom. Here are a couple memories:

1) She is such a caregiver, she always took care of me, her parents, her sisters, my friends, really anyone who was in need of support.

2) She was an amazing cook and taught me how to cook. When I decided to become a vegetarian at 13 in Alabama, she got out her old veggie cookbooks out ( Diet for a Small Planet- I believe) and told me she would support me but I need to learn how to cook for myself too!

3) When I was in high school and I got in trouble for being late too many times- the punishment was a paddling or detention. They called my mom and she told them that no one was allowed to paddle or touch me and that it was her fault that I was late sometimes, so if they wanted someone to go to detention that she would come in. The principal was so stunned by her response that was the end of it.

6) When I was 16 my mom let me skip school to see my first Grateful Dead show in Charlotte,NC with Olivia Diamond and Jon Ramsey.

We have 95 more days to go to meet our goal. I will see how many more things I can reflect on over the next few months. It is hard having our roles switched as I have now become her caretaker, so having gratitude for all she has done brings more love and light to the daily grind. Send some love to Earleen if she helped you out!
