Tito Elmer initially diagnosed with Pneumonia

Update posted by Aieen Marie Salonga

Feb 23, 2018, Tito Elmer was rushed to emergency room of Dr. Yanga Hospital due to shortness of breath and abdominal pain. After series of tests, he is diagnosed to have pneumonia. He is also very weak due to lack of nutrients. As of today, he is still admitted to the hospital.

He is currently supported by oxygen to ease his shortness of breath. Catherization is also performed to aid his urination.

Due to his age - 39, he is already experiencing signs of Oculopharyngeal Muscular Dystrophy - a rare genetic muscle disorder that appear between 40 and 60 years of age. Affected individuals may develop drooping of the eyelids(ptosis), trouble moving their eyes and/or difficulty of swallowing(dysphagia). Doctor advised that his difficulty of swallowing may become severe enough, they can lead to the indigestion of food or liquids into the lungs, which can cause inflammation or infection of the lungs that can lead to death. It is advised to perform nasogastric intubation, to feed him.

For now, it is prescribed to take Combiflex, each bag will lasts 36 hrs and provide him nutrients he needs to regain strength. Combiflex costs 5,488 pesos per bag.

Combiflex 1400KCal

We are uncertain of how long will he need to take Combiflex for him to fully regain strength.

Praying for his fast recovery.
