Diabetes and Low Blood Sugar and High Blood Sugar

Update posted by Zee Sta Barbara

A diabetic can have high and low blood sugar reactions called: Hyperglycemia and Hypoglycemia, respectively. It is a condition found in individuals with diabetes, either insulin-dependent or non-insulin-dependent. In short, any diabetic can/may experience this, depending on several factors such as

- food intake

- excercise

- medication, oral or injected particularly insulin

- stress

or a lack thereof the above.

It is a myth to siimply say that (particularly Type 1) diabetics has "high sugar" or "drank or ate too many sugars", "...that's why they're diabetics".

"A diet high in calories from any source (including sugar) contributes to weight gain and weight gain increases your risk for type 2 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is caused by genetics and unknown factors that trigger the onset of the disease. Type 2 diabetes is not caused by sugar, but by genetics and lifestyle factors. "
