Update Feb 7 2018

Update posted by Angela Sta Cruz

Jack turned a month old last February 3rd. We thank our Lord for the miracle and gift of life. When he was born, we were advised by the doctor that he would not ask for a week and yet here we are. :)

We apologize again for the lack of updates as internet has been wonky these past few weeks.

On the afternoon of Feb 1 2018 we managed to transfer Jack from Marikina Valley to National Childrens Hospital. NCH is a government hospital, and while we won't be 100% covered the bill would be cheaper compared to a private hospital.

We transported him via AceCor ambulance that costed us Php7000. He was admitted in the charity ward ICU and had to undergo a series of tests as he is a transferee from another hospital. I managed to fix his Philhealth papers and spoke with the social workers there. They advised us that we will still have to pay out of pocket for some expenses such as lab tests one of which is ABG or arterial blood gas that is about 427Php excluding the fare to and fro. I have to bring the blood sample from NCH to another hospital called PCMC as the abg test is not available in NCH.

We also had to fork out 8200Php for his ventilator cpap rental as this is handled by a 3rd party company and not by the hospital.

His chest xray shows some blank patches which could possibly lead to pneumonia.

He has some gastric residues from feeding so they lowered the intake of breastmilk as he is not able to fully digest everything.

They tried to remove the ventilator and cpap to see if he can tolerate just plain oxygen.

He is still taking antibiotics to help fight sepsis.

He is scheduled for a cranial ultrasound today to rule out any bleeding on the brain and also hydrocephalus. This procedure is also an out of pocket expense for us.

Please continue to pray for our brave angel.

Life as a parent/watcher in NCH is not easy because there are no proper facilities and the hospital is old but we are getting by.

Please continue to pray and share this page to others so we can help Jack.

Thank you for your prayers and assistance.
