Old-style kids

Update posted by CHERIE SIEBERT

Both the children love to read, and also to write their own stories. A few years back they learned to type on a US-type keyboard, but the German keyboard has a slightly different layout and a few extra keys, so Kai is practicing on the typewriter that the children's Oma gave us. It's been in the family for many years, and we love to have this bit of family history. It's a beautiful typewriter, one of the first of the portables. They love computers and technology, but also we make sure that they see the craft and history behind - the way things were in what they call "the old days".

Kai and Ming's Oma, Uncles and Aunt lives in Vienna. Kai and Ming don't get to see their Vienna family nearly as often as they would like, but it's always a big event when it is possible. In the meantime, they're writing stories together, and Kai plans to type a school report on Austria's climate that is due in a few weeks. Ming likes to draw pictures for her Oma, to send her in the mail. Maybe she will type her a letter next time too!

Thank you for visiting our Siebert family fundraiser, and for helping the children become citizens of this country that they so dearly love. They are very excited to see that there are people in the world who are loving and helpful, who care.
