John’s update 24th

Update posted by Louise Taylor Bowen

Hi everyone, what a few weeks that's been, a massive thank-you to all of you who have put themselves out for me.Di Styles and family raised nearly £1500 at her clothes sale at Egypt Mill on Friday 13th April. I know that day would've taken a lot of organisation and hard graft. Many thanks to all of you who took part in that day including Di Duxford,Jayne Field and the Slimming group, and thanks to Egypt Mill for providing the location.

The'Awesome Ladies ' took part in the 'Forest Warrior 'challenge at Speech House on Sunday 22nd April raising over £600.They all completed a 12k course which sounded tough but fun, ropes ,running, mud and swimming were amongst the obsticles. There was a great team spirit shown driven on by their team leader Sarah Kingsman. Thanks to all of you who were sponsored by their friends and family. If any of you need sponsorship in the future for a cause that I can become involved with ,it would be a great pleasure.I hear that there are a few stiff and creaking bodies out there, again I'm so grateful for the brilliant support.

On Monday 16th -Friday 20th April I joined the Salisbury Spinal Units team for the 'Wheel power ' games at Stoke Mandeville Olympic village. There were 14 teams from all over the UK and a massive range of sports to have a go at. There are some great photos of us all on the 'Wheelpower' Facebook pages. Salisbury took the cup home for 7th time in 9 years, I'll be honest the old cliché about' just being there 'was much more to the point, there was a fantastic atmosphere all around you all of the time, I spent most of the week chuckling.

I must thank the Salisbury nurses and physio for taking great care of us all, they were always there when needed. Thanks Daniel, Martin,James and Jim,I have the deepest respect for you all.

At the games I had chance to try out a fantastic piecentre of equipment that I will be buying using your donations. The firm is 'RGK' and the equipment is called the 'Tiga' and the 'Attitude'(a front wheel attachment ). This can be powered manually, power assisted or manually and power assisted at the same time. It is an exceptional piece of equipment that will enable me to go just about anywhere.

So thank-you again everybody for your support, I am eternally grateful. Your John Bowen
