Surgery Sunday Update:

Update posted by Verge Gamotan

I was taken from the ENT Ward 3D down to OR at 5am prepping for the surgery while meeting with my ENT, Surgeon and Anesthesiologist on an overview of the procedure. I was on a general anesthesia while doing the procedure for almost 5 hours, from 8AM til 1PM. It was a total thyroidectomy, meaning my whole thyroid gland of about 8cm in length was removed together with the 5cm node at the isthmus.

After surgery, I was moved to the recovery room for about 4 hours and still feeling the effect of Ketamine and other anesthesia. My voice is still hoarse due to the intubation procedure. Have a bit of difficulty drinking water and eating just yet but hopefully will be fine tomorrow. I haven't seen the cut yet. I had an initial talk with my surgeon requesting a summary of the procedure and after care and awaiting biopsy report of the specimen taken out.

I am now back at the ENT Ward 3D, sharing space with other 11 patients. No worries as the area is clean, well lighted and air-conditioned.
Nurses frequently visits to monitor stats and have been given 2 600g Calcium supplements.

This is it, surviving, breathing and continuing to fight. Together we may continue to pray for fast healing and recovery.
