UPDATE ON JASON - HOSPITAL ADMISSION

Update posted by Jessie Buxton

Update on Jason: Jason has been in hospital for a week so far. The Doctor called me today to let me know about his progress. When he arrived, she did various blood tests on him. All results came out clear, including a drug test which would have picked up any substances he had had in the last month. So far she has managed to find a cocktail of new generation medication that Jason seems to be responding to well: his thought patter is much clearer, he is a lot more verbal and he is more understanding than before. One of the dosages she was giving him did make him a bit hyper emotional/jumpy so she lowered that dose and she is now happy with the level he is on. In the week he has been admitted, he has joined various group therapies which the doctor said he is responding well to (brain exercises, relaxation therapy, anger management, group therapy). She has also been seeing him daily for one on one sessions. When she saw him in her rooms a month ago, she said Jason still did not see anything wrong with having drugs/dug friends but she said that since the new meds she is able to show him why drugs are bad and so far he is seeming to be accepting of that. She wants to keep Jason in until this Friday for further monitoring. She also suggested a brain scan which would help to show what is happening in his brain neurologically, but she said it is very expensive and no matter what the findings are, there won't be anything she could do for him anyway, it would purely be for educational purposes. In time we could look at that but she said for now, there is no need. She also wants to put Jason in touch with a Social Worker who can help him find suitable employment as a Schizophrenic. All in all Jason is doing very well and she is happy with his progress. She said that he will still need supervision for a while as well as one on one follow up sessions with her out of hospital but she can foresee him getting to a state of in-dependency in the future.

Thank you for everyone's ongoing support and prayers.
