CENTRAL WEST STREAMLINER SUCCESS AND A CALL TO ARMS

Update posted by Ross Jackson

Supporters,

On the 27th of July, Streamliners Australia ran our first fundraising passenger train, The Central West Streamliner in conjunction with the Lachlan Valley Railway Society.

Appropriately, SSR’s B61 and GM10 hauled the 200 passengers from Sydney to Bathurst, and delighted over 300 Bathurst locals on a shuttle trip while the train was in town.

We raised over $16,000 on the day to go towards the restoration of CL17, thanks to everyone who purchased a ticket and came for a ride.

Now to the problematic turbo charger.........

We will be removing the turbo charger out of CL17 on the 31st of August, after this it will be shipped to Melbourne to be pulled apart and assessed. All going well, it won’t be too badly damaged, and it can be refurbished to then go back into CL17. This being the case, the loco could be repaired and back on the mainline by the end of the year, but only with your continued support!

Streamliners Australia has raised over 80k in online fundraising thus far, help us reach a history smashing 150k!

Our new target of $150,000 will allow us to repair the turbo charger, as well as complete the remaining body modifications to return the loco to it’s ‘as delivered’ appearance plus get a ICE Radio fitted to allow it network access.

The sooner we can reach this target, the sooner CL17 will be finished and available for everyone who donated to view and inspect.

Whether it be $5 or $50, every dollar helps us get a step closer to completing the engine that you all saved from the razor blade conversion!

The Team at Streamliners Australia.
