Emmanuel will soon be released from immigration detention!

After hearing about Emmanuel’s life story, Black Alliance for Just Immigration (BAJI) has offered to provide the remaining funds needed to release Emmanuel on bond. BAJI and national leaders like Southerners on New Ground (SONG) are part of National Bailout a national movement to end cash bail. BAJI joins this collective as part of their decade long effort to address the injustice of mass criminalization impacts Black citizens and noncitizens.

Thanks to you and BAJI’s commitment to fight back against unjust immigration policies, Emmanuel will finally be released from detention so that he can begin to defend against his deportation!

After relaying the great news about his release from detention, Emmanuel was indescribably happy and grateful. He wished to send a message to all who have helped him: “I never would have thought that people would want to help me without knowing me or knowing my face. I cannot believe this and I am so happy that I cannot express. I just want to say thank you to everyone who helped me. I don't know how to thank you all. I hope that God blesses every one of you in this life. You have helped me; you have helped my family. I appreciate everything you have done.”

We thank everyone that has contributed to Emmanuel’s fundraising campaign. It has been so inspiring to see how many folks have mobilized and generously donated to help this young father get back on his feet.
