Thoughts for tomorrow

Update posted by James Hohman

We know it is not news that that tomorrow's land use committee meeting is at 7 pm at Green Hill's School. Nonetheless, here are some thoughts on tomorrow:

  • We are going to wear green to reflect our desire to keep Green "green"
  • Members of the Greenfield Action Committee will be handing out stickers with the same logo as the lawn signs you are now seeing around town
  • You can sign the petition if you have not already done so

We are encouraging everyone to actively listen and participate in the goings-on.

For the first meeting, being disruptive and antagonistic will not help our cause. We can strongly AND respectfully communicate our total opposition to this application for variance

We should not assume that the land use committee has pre-determined an outcome one way or the other. If the land use committee is inclined to vote our way, they will need a solid basis of negatives to reject the application and our job is to facilitate the creation of that list and ensure each negative is represented to its maximum potential. Your applause/approvals of any such negatives as they are expressed will be appropriate and welcome.

We do not expect there will be any final decision made on Thursday; rather, we think the meetings will stretch out over the summer, most likely into the fall.

It is possible that opportunities for public comment at this meeting will be limited, though eventually broader comment by the community will be permitted in subsequent meetings.

Something to avoid: we must strive to give Ambrosia NO EVIDENCE of a community bias specifically against drug addicts. They would love to paint us as ignorant, selfish NIMBY types and can attempt to use any evidence of community bias specifically against drug addicts in legal appeals should our committee deny their application since addiciton is considered a disability covered by the Americans with Disabilities act.
