Still fighting!

Update posted by Shida Baker

Hi everyone. First and foremost, thank you very much for your kind generosity in the donation. Today would mark exactly 1 month Syaqir in ICU. He went through surgery for his right lung 3 days ago and is recovering. His lungs were affected very severely by the bacteria, with multiple holes and air leakage that had caused them to collapse. Doctors can only try to fix on the right side and let it stable before they start to fix on the left side. The fact that he was breathing on his own with those severely damaged lungs is a miracle by its own. This shows just how strong his willpower to get better and of course with your prayers and God's will.

The operated right lung is still leaking fluid and air. Doctor Su Jang Wen said it is still not perfect but still not as bad as before. He said the lung will need about one month to stop leaking, and then he can start to work on the left side. That means estimated another 2 months in ICU. I hate to break the news to Syaqir that he might celebrate Idulfitri in ICU. :( He has been begging for water and food since we moved him to Mount E but all we could give him until yesterday was 20ml of water in tiny sips.

Dr Su told us that Syaqir will require a long term treatment of antibiotics for his lungs and he is worried about the financial burden on us. He said estimated cost now is $1 million.

We cannot give up. We are half way there.
