March 18 - 1st update

Update posted by Clark Christopher Ilano Reyes

Hello again! My wife and I want to thank you all for the prayers and support. I would like to update you all about the status of our twins, Kaeden and Kyler.

From January to February, during their stay at the Neonate ICU, both were intubated using mechanical ventilators to support their breathing. Eventually it was removed and both of them can tolerate just using a nasal oxygen support. To closely monitor their health, laboratory work ups were also done like their blood, X-ray and Ultrasound. Concurrently, Kaeden and Kyler had on and off infections so they were given antibiotics for a long time. They also had jaundice -yellow skin color. This happens when the blood types of the mother and the children are incompatible. The twins has had episodes of low oxygen rate and low heart rates due to their prematurity and infections. The doctors noted to us that the heart of Kyler has an abnormality (Patent Ductus Arteriosus), so they gave medicine and hopefully it will close. If the abnormality still persists, they will resort to surgery. On the brighter side, their weight is slowly increasing.

With all of these that have been happening to our babies, it’s really hard on our part. We’ve experienced mixed emotions – we are relieved one moment then scared the next. We have fears and anxieties due to numerous complications of the situation. We want to stay strong and constantly praying for their good health. At the same time, we are worried about the hospital bill. We always think about it every night, on what we should do and in what way we can solve this. As I write this, the total bill is approximately $61000 (P3,050,000) for both of them.

Again, we really appreciate you joining us on our journey. With the help and support you’re giving us, we will be stronger and hopeful. We will continue fighting on. Spreading our story can help us gain more funds for our beloved twins. Thank you very much and God bless.
