PADgirls Campaign

Update posted by Tanaka Tsoka

PADgirls Campaign is a movement started by Fashion Stylist -cum - designer, Ngugi Velly Vere mid 2016 after discovering that they are girls in rural areas using newspapers and pieces of cloth during menstrual cycle. The unhealthy and discomfort method touched Ngugi's heart to start providing sanitary products to rural school girls. The government focuses on reducing HIV rate by providing free condoms to boys but neglect a serious crisis of a woman's nature. Something so big that it can steal her confidence, pride, dignity and happiness to stop her from excelling in life.

PADgirls Campaign aims to help rural African girls by providing them with free sanitary pads to make their time of the month easier. And, en courage them not to miss classes.

We are empowering the Girl Child by covering her pride and dignity lost through using newspapers and pieces of cloth with healthy free pads.

Girls are missing school due to this lack of sanitary products reducing the countries pass rate which means we killing a generation of future powerful women.

Girls are losing their dignity, pride, confidence by using uncomfortable and unhygenic ways during menstrual cycle which may lead to cervix cancer.

PADgirls Campaign has helped more than 846 girls to date in Mpumalanga, Shoshanguve, North west, Pretoria. Now we targeting to make a goal of 10k pads for schools in Limpopo and Zimbabwe. We believe its possible if we all work together towards this women empowerment project. The government will only act when our actions speak louder.
