Today, Gestalt will receive his IVIG treatment. IVIG, or intravenous immunogobulin, is the medicine needed to treat Gestalt's inflamed arteries. This is the most critical step in his healing. The medicine should not be given too early nor too late during his illness. Given too early, we may risk failure of treatment. Given too late, it may result in an aneurysm. The "golden period", as referred to by his doctors is from the 7th to 10th day of fever.
