Each person on average knows 10 people who can spare R100 towards our campaign. Imagine that 5 of your friends plus you do donate R100 that equates to R600. Now imagine the five each bringing their own 5 - now we have reached an additional 25 people at R100 each. To someone else, R2500 sounds like a drop in the ocean.

Now look at the snowball effect of the multiples of 5 - keep in mind that most probably out of the 10 you introduce to the campaign, 2 in 5 might bring more than 5 with and 1 in 5 might be more generous than the other. Lets look at our maths now and see how we get to 60 000 people.

1 = 5 × 100 = R500

5 = 25 x 100 = R2 500 + R500 = R3 000

25 = 125 x100 = R12 500 + R3 000 = R15 500

125 = 625 × 100 = R62 500 + R15 500 = R78 000

625 = 3 125 × 100 = R312 500 + R78 000 = R390 500

3125 = 15 625 × 100 = R1 562 500 + R390 500 = R1 953 000

15 625 = 78 125 × 100 = R7 812 500 + R1 953 000 = R9 765 500

Imagine what reaching out to 5 people who each donate R100 can do for the campaign. We need to reach 60 000 people in order to make the community of Gugulethu to have a legacy that they will look back at and say thank you for taking care of our children and grandchildren's future.

Now let's reach out to the 5 who in turn will talk about the campaign and reach the other multiples of 5 and pay it forward for the community.
