It's with a heavy heart that I write that David died early morning today, in the company of his closest family, after a long and heard-fought battle against illness that had finally left him without voice last Wednesday.

Those of you who contributed here on the website went a long way towards ensuring that his last few months were at least more financially comfortable and stable, and I'd like to thank you all on behalf of Ildikó and Angelika for all you did for him. As they move forward into a difficult and unpredictable future, our thoughts will, I'm sure, be with them.

I will be leaving this fund open for the next few days, until just after David's funeral, at which point I will transfer all remaining funds to the family. If you - or anyone you know, and who knew David - would like to contribute before it finishes, please do so as soon as you can.

For my part I'd also like to thank you all - we work in an incredibly caring profession and this, along with many other crowd acts of kindness over the years, continues to make me proud of the kind of people we are. We all know that some day we'll need people, and I, for one, am glad we're all here.
