We just had a consultation with a general surgeon on-island. After a breast exam and going over all Mom's previous lab results from the ultrasound and biopsy, the surgeon said it is treatable here with a Lumpectomy. It is 2 centimeters big and hasn't reached her chest wall. She is also showing no signs of lymph nodes around her armpit area. More testing still needs to be done, though, which may include an MRI. The surgeon says it is actually Stage I (nothing is certain with cancer). We still want a second opinion from an oncologist which we've scheduled for Nov. 30. Hoping and praying the oncologist confirms the general surgeon's diagnosis and we can get started!
