Dec 13 & 14

Update posted by Deborah Saland

Dec 13: I haven't been able to do an update for a little while because it was rather scary and exhausted by the time i left the hospital. Denise is doing a lot better they have a ventilator hooked up to the trach but Denise is doing most of the breathing on her own and it's supplying oxygen once in awhile it might assist her on breathing on her own so she's not fully on the ventilator. They stopped the medicine that produces a coma. So she's starting to wake up Eyes Are Open she's able to nod yes or no to questions she knows who we are she knows what's going on she's in a lot of pain which we think is what was really happening all along and as she appeared agitated it was because she couldn't communicate that she was in pain. The goal is to get her breathing completely on her own and off the ventilator and than wean her off the the oxygen then just monitor her for a few days to see how she's breathing on her own just see how she does and hopefully they will be no crisis so they won't have to use the ventilator. After a few days breathing on her own they will put a cap on the trach. And she will be able to talk at that point. When she's stable long enough they'll remove the trach and the hole will heal. I don't know how long this is going to take I'm hoping by Friday maybe. I have to leave the hotel and go back to Fort Lauderdale because it's too much money thousands for the hotel so I'll have to be driving back and forth after that point probably.Dec 14: Today Denise spiked a fever of a hundred and one point eight and has pneumonia again and has been sleeping all day with erratic blood pressure and heart rate. She is on antibiotics also just praying she can get over this hurdle.
