  • On Sunday Nov 20 Denise was doing pretty good, she was sitting in a chair and talking away. We were very hopefully she would be going home by the end of the week. That afternoon when we left for dinner they were moving her from ICU to a regular floor. She started to have hallucinations but was aware that it was not real. When we got back from dinner they had her moved and she had taken a turn for the worse. She was having hallucinations and was unaware of where she was and who we were, she was extremely agitated and trying to pull out the IV’s. The Doctors informed us that they need to put her into a coma and reinstall the breathing tube. On Monday when Debi returned to the hospital the Doctors told her that they are not sure what is going on or why she is so agitated and her brain function is not able to process normal commands, they felt it necessary to test for meningitis and have done an MRI. Yesterday they said the MRI showed nothing significant and meningitis test came back negative. They a slowly trying to take her out of the coma but whenever she gets agitated they have to stop. They still have her on the breathing tube but is mostly breathing on her own. They will not take her out of the coma or off the breathing tube till she is no longer agitated, stops from trying to remove all the tubes and IV lines and can think coherently. Until she can do these things they are afraid that she will forget to breath on her on. They cannot tell us when or if this may ever happen.
