The Sun and It's Impact on Human Health

Update posted by Evelyn Khelama

Within days of each other, two cultural icons killed themselves by hanging. A very violent form of suicide. Kate Spade was a wealthy fashionista who built a fortune selling unique purses. She was an inspiration to women that you can plow through the sexism dominating the business world, to make your own mark. She left behind a young daughter. So did Anthony Bourdain, who was a Chef Mogul who made a fortune as a food artist. Both children will inherit fortunes but also a lifetime of pain, possibly battling the same mental health problems of their parents. Bourdain was very popular and even did a special program with then President Obama and many other celebrities. We can say it is proof that wealth cannot buy happiness or peace of mind and spirit. This is true, however, the reasons for this tragedy are multi-layered. As a spiritual and physical therapist, I can say that these two wealthy people were tormented souls, battling inner demons of mental health and drug addiction. Kate on anti-anxiety meds. Bourdain a heroine addict by his own admission. As a science researcher and what I term a "melanologist" (one who studies the importance of melanin to human existence) I can say that part of the problem is melanin recessiveness and photosensitivity. Translated that means these two individuals are Caucasians, and as such, melanin suppressed. Because of that, they are sun sensitive. Physicians and scientists are only now beginning to understand the connection between the sun and human health, whereas black scholars and melanin researchers like myself have been teaching it for decades. The discussion of sun related diseases of mind and body are subjects largely shunned by the mainstream healthcare industry primarily because it will bring up the subject of melanin resistance to these disorders and the industry is controlled by those who are melanin recessive. Racism has long prevented these discussions in earnest. Suicide rates are highest among whites and seasonal suicides, that is during spring and summer, when the temperatures are hottest and the sun is most active are usually the most violent. This is why this research is vitally important needed and your assistance is requested. Dr. Khelama
