Day 28 at NICU

It was a rough week for Baby Eika. She contracted an infection for more than a week now and it made her platelet count go down. For more than a week her platelet count ranged from 20-40. They did blood tests and platelet tranfusions plus the antibiotics almost everyday but still we didn't see any change. It was frustrating.

However, she is clinically stable, she is active and her vital signs are perfect. Her surgery that was intended to finally close her stomach has now been deferred four time as it is very risky to do the surgery with a low platelet count.

They shifted to a new antibiotic last Wednesday and we prayed hard for it to work this time. Her lab tests finally arrived at the NICU earlier today, and it shows that her platelet count jumped from 39 to 117!!! Praise God!!! It was chilling. All the doctors and nurses are celebrating with us. I was crying tears of joy. Thank You Lord!!! For now, we are waiting for the schedule of her 3rd surgery!!
