Keneilwe's story

Update posted by Pamela Magadzi

"Keneilwe is a 17 year old girl in grade 11. She started living with us when she was a baby. She was malnourished and suffered from some alcohol syndrome because her mom drank when she was pregnant. My cousin who was a nurse at the time and passed away in 2007 decided we take the child in as she was being left all over the show by here mom. My grandmother, my aunt and our whole family pitched in to raise her. Her grandfather was alive at the time and helped with funds for the child. The mom ran the streets and would sometimes come see her child when she felt good like it. She had aunts and uncles with money but they didnt really care. When she was three years old her grandfather had died and her one aunt came to fetch her from our house. We had not legally adopted her so we didnt want to fight with them and we let them take her. They moved her to Hammanskraal. She has a little brother who is currently living with one of her uncles. I think it's the only uncle alive. Long story short she was abused at the aunt's house in Hammanskraal. To a point where she ran from the house to the police station and was taken to an orphanage. She came back to Rustenburg at age 7/8 and she told me how she was abused at the orphanage and raped once by a police officer...Anyway this was hard for me to swallow but it seemed it didnt bother anyone else. When she returned she lived in her grandfathers house and one of her aunts was assisting. But it seems everyone felt she was a burden and nobody cared for her much. So she started having friends at school, going out with them etc. Then she was kicked out of the grandfathers house and currently lives alone in her mothers RDP house in the same area (Rustenburg).

She loves going to school because that's her only hope right now. Please help us raise funds to take her to varsity after matric, buy her toiletries, food, clothes and whatever she may need to live and study comfortably.
