This picture was taken while Maleree was at UC Davis for the surgery to relieve the intense pressure from her brain. I'm not sure who took it, or I would give them the credit, but I love seeing this girl laugh! I was just thinking about people. Sometimes we get discouraged (to say the least) when people around us do crappy things (myself included). And then, when tragedy occurs, we seem to rise up and do amazing things. I want to remember that, focus on that, strive to be like that. This is what you, out there somewhere, are teaching me through your response to Maleree's need. I know I set a really high fundraising goal. At the beginning...no problem. Huge amounts of money was coming in very quickly and we were overwhelmed with all sorts of good feelings. And then it started tapering off. I thought, ok, people are returning to their everyday lives and we will look to other sources of income, because I know bills relating to her getting the best treatment will be coming in soon. Then this happens. One of two people will trickle in every few days and I realize Maleree is not forgotten. Then my sister, who has been in the hospital donates, then my co-teacher donates. She is not forgotten! Thank you all so very much! I hope that whatever is going on in your life, that you feel you are not alone, that someone cares, that you are not forgotten.
