Long overdue update!!

Update posted by Susanna McKibben

Hello everyone! Sorry it’s been so long since I’ve updated, I really can’t believe it’s January already and that we raised $3575! We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has participated and we will never be able to thank you enough. So since i last posted, we got some new information from the Consulate here in Merida that recommended we try to apply for the visa waiver on our own before hiring a lawyer. They have tried to change the process to make it as accessible to everyone as possible, so the best course of action is to try on our own and hope for the best.

If we don’t get the visa this time, the second time around we will re-consider hiring a lawyer for this phase of the journey. This will be a long journey. Best case scenario is that we will find out in August of this year that Nolo got his waiver. Worst case, his petition is denied and we try again.

But don’t worry, the money that you so generously donated will go to good use! We are saving it to see if we will need a lawyer for a second try. If Nolo does get the waiver on the first try, we will use the money to buy plane tickets (!!!!!!) and also to fund the process to get a visa waiver for Nolo in Canada, where we hope to eventually move to be closer to family. It’s a long and complicated process but we couldn’t do it without you!!!

If you ever have questions, call or email us, we would love to hear from you! And I know I’ve said this many times already but THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
