Training Expedition - Kochel am See 30.04-01.05

Update posted by Hannah Peeters

Below are some images of the first training expedition with almost all of the World Challenge Members! For the weekend we went to a Campsite at Kochel am See (with the train and bus). The purpose of this trip was to practice all of the setting up of the camping, and learning all the skills we will be needing in Peru such as: cooking with a trangia, making a fire, and learning about all types of risk assessments, as well as seeing what kind of gear we still needed to buy or what would be best looking at our fellow challengers. We also did a hike both days, preparing ourselves for Peru as well as seeing what it is like to hike with so many people at different paces. In this weekend everyone bonded together a lot and the team work and communication throughout the weekend made it clear we will do great in Peru! During the training expedition we had a leader accompany us from World Challenge, who helped and taught us many things throughout the trip. This expedition allowed everyone to get to know each other more as well as have a small experience of what we will be doing in Peru. It is important that we all get along and don't get overwhelmed by the intensity of the trip, but as long as we stick together and are there for each other we will have an amazing trip!
