I am sorry not to have properly updated everyone till now but Teddy's diagnosis is not good - he has extensive elbow and one hip socket dysplasia which is congenital - he should NEVER have been used as a stud dog and this gene will have been passed on to his pups. So this, combined with the fact that he was caged for 5 or more years without being exercised has meant that his elbow joints and one hip socket are already nearly completely fused and he will suffer pain, inflammation and arthritis for life.
Pain management is all we can do - so its Metacam and Tramadol for now to see how he gets on with both drugs - surgery will not help unless he had both elbows replaced by Noel FItzpatrick ....
In view of this I have decided to adopt him - partly because no one will want to take on a dog with possibly fairly expensive health issues who cannot run and play like a normal dog and needs to be pushed around on long walks in a stroller ... and partly because he has entirely stolen my heart.
He is friendly and affectionate and so, so gentle - you would never know he was in pain .... which will get worse ....
I am again circulating the fundraiser since the vet's bill two nights ago was £437.20 (and that is with a rescue discount!) for bloods, neutering, manipulation and x4 xrays all under general anaesthetic - and meds of course as well, so with GoGetFunding taking their %age the contributions are nearly all spent.
I thank you with all my heart for your contributions - and if you wish to send any more I will take whatever is pledged towards the welfare and ongoing rehab - hydrotherapy especially - for this little boy ... and you'll see pictures of him on walks walking or in my grandchildren's old stroller or the new doggie one I have just bought him ....
I am so angry that he is in pain - angry that he was caged and neglected for so very long - and I promise faithfully that when the pain gets too much for him I will not for my own selfish needs keep him suffering.
