Thank you

For all of you who have donated to RA-C we would like to send the warmest thanks. The money you have sent has enabled trips to Calais roughly every 5 to 6 weeks by teams of volunteers from around Colchester. The work there has spanned times of enormous change in the 'Jungle' camp with almost 2/3 of the infrastructure and dwellings being demolished by the French authorities. And yet at least 2/3 of the people remain. Sadly, there are growing numbers of unaccompanied children who have managed to find their way to France in the hope that they can join family or friends in Britain.

Working with Care4Calais we have been able to help move shelters, distribute food and supplies and even teach English to people in the camp. This work will continue in June when we also hope to support Kitchen in Calais with food supplies and volunteers - they feed 1,000 people a hot meal every single day of the week. A massive undertaking done with love and patience.

Colchester has also seen 5 families arrive from Syria through the Governments Vulnerable Persons Relocation Scheme and I am pleased to report that each family has been given help and support by RA-C. We have also started to organise social events that are inclusive and will support our evolving community. these have been enormously successful.

Many thanks for your generous support,

Refugee Action - Colchester
