my story

Update posted by Alex Barratt

Hi all, I am going to climb Kilimanjaro in Summer 2017 with a small group Wyke College. However I need your help to enable me to achieve my goal to do so. This amazing 10 day trek to the African continent is a once in a life time experience of endurance. The expedition will start in the humid rainforest at 2,980 m, which will be teaming with of wild life. At nights we will be able to see the clear open sky which will be a blanket of stars, as we head to our tents for a nights rest. The next day, the trees will begin to become less dense as we hike upwards and we will catch glimpses of Kilimanjaro's peak through the trees. On day three the views will become more magnificent as the climb gets higher. Day four will see us reach the camp at 4,673 m in the late afternoon and this will be our last stop before the push to the summit. At midnight we will start our summit bid. At Stella Point we should witness the most spectacular sunrise as the sun illuminates the southern slopes and plains far beyond. We will then reach the roof top of Africa at 5,895 on the' Uhuru Peak'. This is what we are fundraising for - for the next year and a half - for this one spectacular moment and the incredible trek of a life time !

So our first fundraising event is a 12 hour night time endurance walk from 8pm-8am back and forth across the Humber Bridge, to raise as much money towards our expedition as possible.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read this, and I am very grateful to any one who contribute through donating.
