Ahhhhh.

Update posted by Charlie Lenk

The day before last brought huge relief with the oncologist’s news that the latest PET scan revealed treatment had been successful. “You’re in remission. Relax,” he said. It wasn’t until today though that I had the time to really let sink in, and when it did I broke down crying. Again, but very different from times before because this time it wasn’t all about the fear - mostly just gladness at having made it.

Made it, of course, with the copious help of friends and family and a large cast of highly competent medical professionals at all levels. Also some folks I’ve never met but who pitched in to support this complete stranger via online fundraising. My GoGetFunding campaign is still going on, so if you haven’t checked it out yet I hope you'll give it some thought before it closes on February 17.

And if you do want to help but cash is short, don’t sweat it. There’s plenty of other ways. Give me a hug the next time you see me. Have me over for dinner if you live close enough, or join me for a walk by Lake Merritt. Tell a friend or three about the campaign - five hundred $10 donations get us halfway there. Or refer me some work: I build solid, easy-to-use WordPress websites at reasonable rates. (http://charlielenk.net/)

Yesterday was my first session of the Freelance Accelerator program. Tomorrow I’m spending the day at a tech event in Oakland’s city hall. Both are things I would have had to sit out while in treatment. It’s great to have that behind me, and to be moving forward like this.
