Yes!

Update posted by Heidemarie Swanepoel

Yes!

Yes is such a positive word. Yes, I am getting married; Yes, I am pregnant; Yes, it's a boy! Yes, you may have a biscuit, toy ...

There have been so many yes'es in my life. But this was the yes I did not want to hear.

Yes. I have cancer.

The day I heard Monika say these words aloud for the first time, my heart broke, as this is never something we can plan for. She has always been the darling of the family. The health conscious beautiful sister anyone would want to have - loving, friendly and successful. Nobody, least of all my dear sister, deserve to go through this shadowy valley called cancer.

When We started this journey together, I promised to do all I could to help her, and although I don't ever enjoy asking for help, the time has come to do just that. Some days we need that extra helping hand, and this is one of those times. So many people have been involved in the daily needs like taking meals when she was too sick to cook, taking her to appointments when there was no one available to take her. Helping with Daniel. To each of these people, we are so very grateful, and always will be. To those of you who are able to help us out financially with however much or little you are able to spare, we will always be so very grateful.

We need to raise R80 000 ( approximately US $ 6200) before the doctors will be able to start with radiation. Every cent donated will help us to get to this goal.
