Update: Money handed over to lady involved!

Update posted by Richard Hannah

Hi everyone

Just a short note to let you all know that I met up with the lady we were raising the funds for, last week. She was overwhelmed that so many people cared enough to donate to this page! I had the pleasure of meeting her, over a cup of coffee she told me what had happened and how subsequently she has been amazed at the public response, on here via donations and by phone calls, flowers and best wishes in the street. She said her neighbours have been fantastic as have the good people of Bo'ness!

She asked me to thank each and every one of you for the lovely comments and of course for the donations. She explained that whilst she was extremely grateful for each and every pound donated (she commented that this was just typical of the generous behaviour of Bo'ness people), however she wanted this to be about more than her. Therefore she has very graciously decided to donated the money to local charities and one that is close to her heart.

So the breakdown of what was raised and how it will be used is as follows:

Total sum donated on this page was 865 however after deductions from go-get-funding, PayPal and the credit/debit card company that left me with 790, I had 10 handed to me directly so that brought the total up to a fantastic 800. The lady has decided to donate 300 to the Bo'ness Storehouse Food bank, 300 to Bo'ness Salvation Army and 200 to Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB). I took her to the bank that day and she has told me she hopes to send in a letter of thanks to the Journal in due course.

I am sure you will all agree that this has been a fantastic demonstration of what we do best here in Bo'ness!

Sine Metu

Thanks

Richard.
