Update 12/05/15

Update posted by Shared Earth

Shared Earth is  collecting funds to help rebuild the lives of those affected by the recent  earthquake in Nepal. We have news from our supplier  Folk Nepal that they are working with  villagers in two remote areas in Sindhupalchowk District ? one, with local  authorities to provide tents, food, gas cylinders and clothes, and in the long  term to help them rebuild. The other, a village so remote that government  authorities have not reached it yet, to store food supplies for the coming  monsoon, as roads will be impassable for several weeks, and in the long term to  build simple houses and schools for the children there. Other fair trade  suppliers have started similar projects to help those most in  need.

So far we have  collected about 650. Folk Nepal will now be channelling this money through Fair Trade  Group Nepal, which has 20  members and represents a wider section of the community.
