Lucas' progress

Update posted by Amanda Fryer

The end of last week brought some positive news that round 1 of chemotherapy did its job! Bone marrow biopsy confirmed that, at that stage, the leukaemia present in Lucas? blood cells was less than 1%. While this is a good result at this stage, he will need biopsies after every chemotherapy course to see if the leukaemia returns, so there is still a long way to go with the treatment and at least another 4 months in hospital. However, it has at least given us all the positive signs we needed that the chemotherapy is making a massive difference.

However there was little time to celebrate as later that day the 2nd round of chemo commenced. This is slightly shorter in duration at 8 days, but unfortunately this round seems to be hitting hard from the start with Lucas already suffering and being very up and down. The kindness and generosity of everyone around continues to make it easier for Andrew and Sam to cope during this period and enables them to remain with Lucas throughout and I continue to thank you all for your support.
