Juli�n's hip replacement surgery was this past Tuesday, August 4th. Everything went well and he's back home recovering with the caring and loving help of his wife Gloria, his children and friends. Click here for video message from Juli�n.

I will see him and Gloria in two weeks when they go back to the clinic for a check-up. Thank you all for helping to make this miracle happen for Juli�n and his family!

Getting Prepped For Surgery

Morgan and Johnny are getting ready to set Juli�n's IV. They were keeping him entertained all the while and explaining what was going to happen every step of the way.

Juli�n & Gloria Esperanza

With thirty-nine years of marriage, 10 surviving children--8 of them grown and 2 still at home, and 7 grandchildren, here they are smiling for the camera. They call each other "Love."

As Juli�n looked as his wife with teary eyes, he told me that in their entire married life, Gloria had never had to gather and carry wood, until he broke his hip in January. He is eager to go back to work so he can provide for her and their kids.

A Massage From Ann

Ann and Yvonne (not in picture) gave everyone in the staging room, including me, a back massage. This was Juli�n's turn right before he was called to the operating room.

The doctors, nurses and staff at Holy Family Surgery Center are wonderful. One of them was making the rounds with guitar in tow, soothing everyone in his path.

As he was being taken into the operating room, Gloria and Juli�n exchanged a loving kiss.
