THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Update posted by Sandra Ortiz

Hola everyone!

I am beyond overwhelmed by the amazing response and support I've received from you! My page has been live for not even a whole week and I am almost reaching 50%, whoaaa!! Gracias gracias gracias!

I really want to thank everyone for helping make this dream possible and I appreciate you believing in me and my project. I have raised enough funds so far to pay for full registration and accomodation and that will secure my participation in the Symposium. Just airfare to be covered now!

I am currently doing fieldwork (life cannot get any better!!) and a week ago, under a beautiful moon, we re-captured a beautiful male jaguar that we first collared a year ago.

I always think the best part of my job is watching jaguars run away and get deep into the jungle after I've reversed the anesthesia and we start following their signal with the GPS collar.

This is my first recapture and I must say it is the best feeling to be able to see again a jaguar and realize after a year, he is healthy, and well fed, moving a lot in his territory and mating! This boy was in heat and I am very hopeful he'll find himself a cute jaguar female to breed during rain season.

These moments in the jungle, being able to touch and care for a jaguar and keeping them safe is what drives me everyday to work on my research and developing the jaguar one health initiative. I wish everyone in Mexico would love and respect and appreciate jaguars the way I do.

Thank you again for your donations and for sharing my page with your friends and people who may be interested in supporting me.

More updates coming soon!

xoxo form the mayan jungle
