Surgery Date is Set

Update posted by Kristin Sparkman

Hello, Friends.

It s official.  I have had two second opinions for my condition, based upon all the tests I had perfomed in December, and all three doctors are in agreement-- hysterectomy is the best option.  This is mainly due to the location of the largest tumor- pressing against my bowel.  All the doctors agreed that the placement of this tumor and its size could lead to a deadly situation if it were to puncture my bowel.  This could lead to sepsis from waste spilling into my abdomen.

When asking about the alternative hormone therapy, each one said the same thing-- hormone treatment is not the most aggressive treatment for this type of tumor. It's a slow reduction treatment and there is a 100% possibility of recurrance in the future.

Given the amount of pain that I am in, this is NOT AN OPTION. There comes a point when the sick come to the threshold of their own exsistance-- I am at that point. I cannot continue to live in pain, with severe anemia, extremely tired all the time, irritable and non-social...This is not who I am, but it is who I have become since dealing with all of this heartache and health uncertainty.

My surgery is set for February 21, 2014. Recovery period is 8 weeks.

Your prayers and kind thoughts are ALWAYS welcomed!
