El Modelo, Copan, Honduras

Update posted by Missi Findley

The school building in this village of El Modelo currently has a total of 126 children from K-6th grade. There are only 3 classrooms to house these grades. This means that there are 3 grades being taught in ONE classroom! Since this school has more children than it can possibly handle there are numerous problems, such as over-crowding, lack of materials, lack of proper desks, and most of all the septic system has been leaking and is at capacity. Plans to build additional outhouses along with a septic system that is capable of handling the school community is a much needed project for this school environment.
