Waiting to leave

Update posted by Sabine Roper

We have been able to buy most of our equipment as solar lanterns, a solar panel , charge controller etc. I have not been able yet to get an converter from 110 to 220 V. Somehow this is not available in our town. I probably need to order it on-line. Al)so still missing is the bathtub (a simple cheap soaking tub) and our roof! I still need donation for the roof! I am planning of a combination of a traditional leaf roof in the veranda area and an isolated bamboo-proof roof with corrugated metal. Proof are recycled plastic bottles.I plan to use rice husk in bags for isolation and 2 layers of tarps for water proofing. I need to protect the tarps from the strong sunlight. The proof parts can act as sky lights. The leaf roofs are cheap and fast, but need to be replaced evry second year (at least). Metal roofs are hot. In hot season the temperatures climb up to 42 degrees, forweeks more than 36 degrees Celsius. I am still waiting for my permission to settle in the village, which is closest to the school of my children. The good part is, that the rain is slowing down and the monsoon season is soon ending,so we don't need to build in tropical downpours. I homeschooling 3 children, 2 are in a boarding house with school. I am finding ways to bake bread without an oven and very pleased with the results. It is a kind of dry run how to cook and bake in the new house. The kids are getting used to vegetarian food and start to like beans.
