I made it!

Update posted by Andrew Benn

I arrived at John O'Groats on Friday 11th, it was a tough final day with 25 mile head winds all afternoon but getting to the end felt incredible. A huge thank you to everyone who has supported me, and to the other four brilliant cyclist in the group.

The challenge pushed me to my limits of cycling capability and I'm more than a bit sore but I had great time and who new that it was possible to get only 10 mins of rain in 12 days of riding.

Here some stats about the trip:

  • 12 days, 1075 miles and 55,000ft of climbing
  • 7 punctures, 1 tyre wall blow out, 1 broken spoke, 2 loosening bottom brackets and 1 pannier rack fixed with cable ties.
  • 2 accidents, 1 requiring minor surgery but with only 2 days of cycling lost by Patrick

Thank you to the helpful bike shops along the way (Pembury cycles in Bristol, Synergy in Auchterarder, Bothy Bikes in Aviemore) and to all the cafes that re-fueled us and filled our water bottles.

At the time of writing the funding total is just over 600 which will pay for two and a bit sessions of ABA therapy for Esme. The support really kept me going on the long hills and the long days so a massive thank you to everyone.
