After the operation August 2015

Update posted by Melania M

Dear friends,

I am writing this update which I have had in mind to do now for quite some time, for those of you who are not in the Samba's facebook group.

Please accept my apologies for not being able to do this sooner but the original idea that I had set out to do was to tell the whole story of Samba from beginning to the present time in each of the updates sent out! However, due to a series of difficulties regarding housing for Samba and I etc this has been delayed until now.

As I hope all of you know, due to your genuinue and caring generosity Samba was operated on at TOTs veterinary at the beginning to August ! It was a very delicate time because it had already been 2 weeks since Samba had been diagnosed with a Hernia. When visiting the vet I asked the vet to do whatever he could to help Samba walk again but most importantly that she came out of all of this alive! I realised that in requesting this I was indeed putting a great amount of pressure on the him, as I had been told by other vets that there would only be a 50/50 chance of success. Although the Vets face was very serious, Mauro Sanno, who been reputated to be one of the best veterinary surgeons in Barcelona operated on Samba and also at a very fair price.

On the day of the surgery Samba was in the operating theatre for 7 hours with Mauro and his assistant Natalya and later said the the wound that they had found was incredibly big, to the point that part of one of the disc's had to be removed. On the evening after the operation poor Samba was in an incredible amount of pain and she was an incredibly brave dog!

Following the operation Maura gave strict instructions on what medicine Samba should take and also strongly advised that Samba should be treated by Stella, the physiotheraptist veterarian on a daily basis!

Here is Samba just 2 days after operation. It was a very difficult time because at this point it was still unsure if the operation had been sucessful and it was vitally important that Samba recieved the magnetic therapy to stimulate circulation and for the nerves to connect and for healing to start!
