PROGRAM AREA

Update posted by asavari

Village Organization (VO) Formation

Asavari believes that development of self sufficient structures is the key to empower marginalized communities. In an area where ADO starts its work, a reasonable time is spent to form organizational structures of men, women and children.

Economic Development Programme (EDP)

The EDP facilitate poor women  to sustain themselves economically. Under this program a group of 3-5 women is formed and each member is given a small amount of loan to start an income earning activity. Before loan distribution, a series of three meetings is held with the group, in which a proposal of each member is prepared with their consultation that how they will sustain their income earning project. After the provision of loan, monthly meeting is held with each group to aware them on different social issues.

Health Awareness Programme (HAP)

Under HAP different type of health activities are performed.

a. Medical Camp

Majority of women in marginalized communities are illiterate and poor therefore they neglect their health. Constricted mindset and lack of cheaper health facilities also increase issues of health among women. ADO holds free medical camps for women. Similarly, a referral system is also developed for women to avail health facilities of government hospitals.

b. Health Awareness

ADO believes that prevention is better than curative. On different communicable and non-communicable diseases, women are given health awareness and by practicing them, women become able to reduce their health expenses. As majority of the women are illiterate therefore theatre is used as a mode of awareness.

c. Health Workers and Traditional Birth Attendants Training

ADO believes to engage local untrained TBAs to receive a 9 month training program which enhances their skills to treat pregnant women professionally. After the completion of this training program, second grade program i.e., health workers training of 9 months will further enhance their capacity to facilitate poor women to deal with the issues of health.

Eucation Programs

a. Functional Literacy Classes

ADO believes that through adult literacy classes, men and women of marginalized communities can be made able to read and write.

b. Literacy classes for dropped out students

Usually girls among marginalized communities are unable to continue their education due to several reasons. More prominent that both parents go out to earn and eldest girl sacrifice their education due to taking care of the family kids.  ADO facilitate these girls to re continue their education and hold classes for them.

c. Establishment of primary schools

Local level educated students are given training to provide cheap education to the poor boys and girls. After completion of their primary education they are facilitated to join government schools for further education

d. Legal literacy classes for men and women.

ADO organizes different interface sessions by engaging lawyers, line departments and relevant institutes to aware  women on different laws, policies and schemes that are favorable to women.
