So since the last update, Nicola has gone through more highs and lows! After the radiotherapy to her chest Nic had severe stomach pains - and for a woman within incredibly high pain threshold, these were pains. A scan revealed further tumours and so she needed high dose steroids and pain relief. Her fantastic doctors at the Christie pushed ahead with plans for trials and so as she underwent more radiotherapy - this time to her abdomen- the funding application was sent off for Brentuximab..... And two weeks later Nic received the wonderful news that she had been granted some funding!! 

The radiotherapy, steroids, morphine and good news meant that Nic could enjoy both her 30th bIrthday and also Maddie's birthday party, something so important to Nic and also to her family and friends.

However, on weaning the meds, Nic has had further pains and another hospital stay which have prompted her doctors to bring forward the start of the Brentuximab trial, which will now start in a couple of days. With the pain well controlled Nic should be able to enjoy her Christmas with Maddie and Rick, but please please keep them in your prayers and thoughts that this drug will work quickly and effectively to bring her into remission, ready for a stem cell transplant and an end to this nightmare xx
