Update posted by CarlandJeanneStenta

She is home this week after 9 days in the hospital, which should have been 3 or 4. After chemo it took 9 days for the drugs to clear her body, so she had to stay, hooked up to iv's, til her numbers were good. So she's finally home, after a long boring stay. Good news is she is eating again, and feeling better. The chemo causes neuropathy, which means she falls easily, and her hands and arms aren't working too well. This is a side effect of one of the drugs, which can't be stopped because it's the main weapon against leukemia. So for now, it's leg braces, walker and physical therapy. Thank goodness she isn't feeling pain, so that's a small mercy. Aside from being very tired, she feels ok. Perhaps this is the usual experience of a child going through this, but it's all new to her and us.
Meg will be 15 on Tuesday. Her positive attitude and courage through all this is astonishing. She thanks you all for your help and your support, along with the cards and wonderful wishes! Please continue to donate/pray/write, as you make it a little easier for Meg and her family to bear this...
