We did it!

Update posted by Caroline Lecky

WHAT A WEEK!

'Run for Lisa' was a great day for a great cause on 4th October, one day after Lisa's birthday on 3rd. So we had lots to celebrate and be so thankful for this weekend past.

We all finished our races and made it in great time too! The running team met in Bangkok on 2nd October before our minibus took us to Khao Yai the following morning, about 3 hours north of Bangkok. We checked in for the race and got a very early night before our 5am wake up call to eat breakfast so that we had some fuel for our run.

For Kris and I, the Half Marathon started at 6.30am which meant it was lovely and cool before the sun came up. The 3.5 Km Fun Run kicked off at 7.30am. Dave took off at his own pace leaving Pee Nok and Lesley keeping a steady pace behind, and Rid was off running.

It was a great run! I thought we would have gotten tired sooner and I really wasn't sure if I'd make it without a few walking breaks. But..........don't underestimate the power of positive thinking! When you have a great reason to run you can go on and on and not want to stop! And a good playlist helps too......

WE DID IT!

Caroline came 13th in the female category and more amazingly Kris came 33rd out of 515 runners! Can you believe it! Pee Nok's running number was 133 so she thinks that it was a sign for good things.

I guess I should introduce the 'Run for Lisa' running Team:

Kris Scope - Newcastle

Khanittha Jiaokok 'Pee Nok' - Krabi, Thailand

Lesley and Dave Pikesly - London

Caroline Lecky - Belfast and Noppadon Senkareem 'Rid' - Koh Lanta, Thailand

THANK YOU!!

To Kris' Aunt Lesley and Uncle Dave for taking time out of your holiday to support me and Kris on our run. Thank you for the laughs and keeping the spirits high! It was great to meet you both and spend this time with you.

Pee Nok! You look the happiest out of all the runners! You HAD to be there, and thank you for taking a second holiday to come on this journey with me.

Kris, this was all your idea and I am so grateful to have such supportive friends in you and Pee Nok. I'll never forget this time in our lives. Thanks for all the pep talks and for shouting at me for having cheeky beers after training!

Thank you for all your love and support Rid, and for encouraging me to go running when I really didn't want to! I couldn't have done it without you there to support me. And........... Congratulations for running the full 3.5 km, after a 12 year running break!

MORE THANK YOUS......

To everyone who donated on and offline, I want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The overwhelming outpouring of love, support and unbelievable generosity these past few months have undoubtedly pushed us over the finishing line.

The messages and words of support to Lisa have been so amazing and uplifting for her. We really can't thank everyone enough. We are very blessed to have such thoughtful friends, family, colleagues, neighbors, locals and even some people who have crossed our paths who we have never met. Amazing.

Sunflower Bar and Liz Catchpole also made offline donations for which I want to say a big thank you for your kindness and thoughfulness.

Also Laureen, thank you very much for your kind donation following your 5 K Colour Run.

The fundraising total is more than I ever imagined. But then our Lisa is a popular girl!

From the Lecky's, the Jones' and all of the running team in Thailand; Khop Khun Ka! (Thank-you)
