WE DID IT!! - Snowdon

Update posted by beibei

After being stuck in traffic we finally made it to Snowdon at 14:30 and started walking at 14:45. This climb was much nicer than the others with a bit of uphill, followed by a flatter part and then back to the uphill. 17:20 was when we reached the top of Snowdon, it had been 25 hours and 10 minutes since we started! A patch of mist decided to pass over as we were at the top so all we could see was grey. On the way down we couldn't wait to just get home and sleep! At 19:15 we reached the bottom! FINISHED!!! It was such a relief, and very rewarding knowing that we had completed the challenge!

After a long drive up to Scotland we finally reached Glen Nevis and started the our three peak challenge at 16:02. The walk up varied from steps to scree and the sun was out, but as we ascended we encounted rain, hail and snow! At 19:30 we reached the top of Ben Nevis only to see cloud. On the way down the cloud cleared to see the sunset through the mountains in the distance, leaving us to walk the last half an hour in the dark. We reached the bottom by 21:50. One down two to go! My mum (designated driver and cook) had made pasta for us before the long overnight journey to the Lake District. We arrived at Scafell Pike at 04:00 and set off 10 minutes later, in the pitch black! The stars were out and headtorches could be spotted at the start of the route up. The sun rose on our way, leaving a spectacularly pink and purple sky. We reached the summit at 07:00 before heading back down the mountain and passing other climbers that we recognised from Ben Nevis. We arrived at the bottom at 08:50 and had a bowl of porridge then jumped in the car to drive to Snowdon. Two down and one to go!
