Leaving St Ives

Update posted by Lynne Willimott

After 28km in the sun from Perranporth to Coombe on Sunday, yesterday morning we woke up to rain... we packed up our tents quickly and got straight on the trail.

Things started to look up as wr reached Hell's Mouth just as the cafe was opening and were able to enjoy a cooked breakfast and well earned coffee to set us up for the rest of the day.

After seeing the seals at Godrevy we dropped down into Gwithian, where we cross the miles of sand dunes (towans) all the way to Hayle.

From Hayle it's quite a trek around the flats to Lelant but from there it was a beautiful walk to St Ives via Carbis Bay, and the sun had come out giving us amazing views across the sands back to Godrevy.

This morning's route to Zennor is said to be challenging, so wish us luck for the day ahead!
