Blankets For Mixed Up Minds

Blankets for mixed up minds is a very very small organisation which sends specially made blankets to people of any age living with mental illness in the uk. Each blanket is tailored to the individual's interests and likes and is intended as a hug for when times are tough (although they're also pretty good for keeping warm!)

I'm Louise and I suffer with mental ill health myself. I have among other things, anxiety, depression, progressive mutism and PTSD. I hope my blankets can provide some comfort to people who feel isolated or just need to know someone cares. I've been making blankets for a few weeks but I'm fast finding out that my limited budget isn't going to cover all I want to do!

Each blanket (made in my bedroom with cotton and cuddle fabric, which many people find comforting) costs about £32.40 to make and post. The main costs are fabric and postage, but all the little things such as ribbon and thread are also adding up. Each blanket carries a supportive message and fabric is chosen according to the likes and dislikes of the person it's for. You can nominate yourself or someone else, as long as they live within the uk then I will try my hardest to make a blanket for them. At the moment I'm using Instagram in order to find people, although at some point in the future I might go to a website. It is my hope that people will be able to use the blanket as not only a comfort object but as tangible evidence that someone out there cared enough and thinks they're worth doing things for.
